I took down my tent and headed to the town of Banff again to connect with my college friend. I met him out front of the Visitor Center. It was great seeing him again. We caught up for about 30 or 45 minutes before he had to head back to work.
I then drove to the Lake Louise area. The drive there was AMAZING. I’ve decided this is the most amazing place I’ve ever seen. This beats out NZ and the Grand Tetons. Never thought I’d say that. But this place really is amazing and I haven’t seen all of it yet. The campground I’d hoped to camp at was closed to tenters for the season, so I figured I’d see Moraine Lake and Lake Louise, then head out to the campground the girl at the booth recommended as a Plan B.
The views from the shore of Lake Moraine were incredible. I looked for a way to get a higher up as I knew the water color was pretty impressive. It’s part of the reason I wanted to come to this area. There was a huge mound of boulders I decided to climb to the top of as others had done the same. It put me about 50 feet to the top. The view and water color were spectacular!! I couldn’t believe it. It truly amazed me. I don’t think I will ever see anything that impressive again! Maybe I’m wrong. I’ll have to search the world to find out. : )
While there I met a guy named Chris. We talked for a bit and he helped me with some photography stuff. We have a bit in common as he is traveling while doing some work that can be done online. We exchanged info and ended up talking for an hour or two from start to finish. We separated ways and, not having time to check out the other lake or do anything else, I rushed off to my campground. I pulled in around 8 PM, found a spot that looked empty, and set up camp. It’s only supposed to get down to 41 F tonight which made me kind of happy. Shouldn’t be too cold! I also got in a shower tonight, so that may help with feeling warm as well.
