I checked out of my condo and headed out to Banff. I hit up “MEC” on the way out of town. This is the Canadian version of REI. Apparently, MEC was patterned after it. I found the shoes I’d been wanting to get and that I have considered ordering online, but this gave me a chance to try them on before buying them to make sure they were what I wanted. So I bought them and an MEC water bottle.
I then had lunch across the street at “Holy Grill” having the best veggie burger I’d ever eaten, I think. If I were still in town I’d go back. I then drove to the little picturesque town of Banff. Cave and Basin National Historical Site wasn’t open as I’d expected, so I walked around town eating at the Old Spaghetti Factory. It’s a nice little town and I really like walking around it. The views of the surrounding mountains above Banff are awesome. Such a nice place.
After posting a pic on Facebook of Banff, a college friend of mine commented that he lived there now. We decided to connect on the 29th. He also gave me a good lead on a grocery store which I grabbed some groceries at before leaving to go back to my campsite.
My campsite is beside a green lake. The water colors are pretty cool here. Apparently, there is a coyote in the campground, but I was just told to put my food away. There isn’t a real safety risk.
