Today I drove the short drive to West Glacier, Montana. I checked into the KOA and then set up my tent. They were having a three for two deal and since I was considering staying three days anyway, I went for it. They were also discounting their cabins which I came very close to going with. Temps make that appealing as does the space inside it. But I opted to tent as it’s very comfortable and saves me $40 or $45. I’ll be in a house in Calgary in a few days, so I figured tenting now wasn’t that big a deal. Plus, it’s not too bad out. Though, it has gotten cold in the last hour or so.
I went to dinner in town. Most everything is closed here. But I found a place to eat then drove into Glacier National Park. I stopped at Lake McDonald to take a few pics and then was going to drive on when I got talking to an older couple there. They were from CA but originally from Poland. He was taking pics. I ended up staying around taking pics until after the sun went down. But I got some awesome pics over the lake. I drove a little further up the road taking a few more pics before turning around and heading home.
I’m in the tent right now sitting in my little ground chair typing away. It’s cold. But it will be warm in my sleeping bag. I may even bring in my old sleeping pad with a pinhole in it and put that on top of my new one for extra insulation. Not sure if it’s needed. It is 44 now and going to get down to about 40 tonight.
