On the 1st, I drove to Moraine Lake one last time to soak it in before leaving. Hour round trip out of my way, but I know I won't see this amazing place again for a while so it was well worth it. Then drove to Revelstoke, BC where I had decided to rent an Airbnb unit. I’m in a basement suite, but there are no other guests, so I have it to myself. I’d almost went with a place that was twice as much since I’d have it all to myself, but then chose this one. It’s all mine anyway, so it worked out.
I settled in then drove to the town of Revelstoke, ate pizza, walked around for a while, then came back and talked to the owner and her friend for a bit. After that I got online and planned until around 1 AM, which feels like an hour later as I’ve passed into a new time zone.
On the 2nd, I woke up not knowing where my next stop would be. It's rare that I'm in this situation, but that was the case this time. After a few hours researching late last night I’d decided on the route, but the next two nights were still up in the air. At about 9:00 AM this morning, I scrapped my plans to try to get to a park further south with great views, but well off my desired route. The views are nice, but maybe not nice enough for the time commitment involved. Also, I had quite a bit of planning and reserving I needed to do, so staying here with the wifi seemed best. The room is cheap and this gave me a chance to plan, reserve before the good places are snatched up, and get caught up a bit. Also, time spent now means less time I spend in Whistler online. So it seemed like a good idea.
Making that decision relieved me a bit. I didn’t need to struggle over where I was headed in the next hour, it saved me a bit of driving that I think later I may have questioned the need for, and I spent the day locking in my plans and getting caught up on stuff. I spent most of the day on the couch planning until 3:30 when I went to the bank to get some Canadian currency, and stopped by a grocery store.
I’ll head out to a taco truck which looked good and got good reviews online in a bit. I have some left over pizza from last night that it will compliment.
