The internet here is driving me crazy. So slow. I was up to 165 pics that needed to be uploaded to the cloud from my camera, and the system was telling me that the estimated time that remained to do that was two days. Two days! So last night I restarted and stayed out of Facebook while the process ran. I figured out recently that they don't get along and that part of my problem is that they both slow each other down to nearly a standstill. The pics were downloading at one per minute which was amazing. And relieving. I stayed up until 1:00 AM in the TV/Internet lounge at the campground taking advantage of the relatively fast upload speed. I was left with about 30 needing to be uploaded, but needed to get to bed.
This morning as I made my breakfast, I set up the rest to upload. I’d accidentally gotten on Facebook during the process, but got off and restarted the computer. The 30 pics took an hour and a half to upload but at least they did!
I’m loving Dunedin. If I had to live anywhere in NZ, right now it would be Dunedin. Picton was pretty great and I haven't seen Wellington yet which is the place I've always thought I’d want to live based on what I've read. This is despite their wind and earthquakes. But Dunedin has been pretty impressive. Tomorrow I leave for Invercargill. This will get me as far south as I can on the mainland.
Today I saw a few tourist spots in Dunedin that I'd wanted to see. Of course, my trip would be incomplete without seeing Baldwin Street - the steepest road in the world. I got a cardio workout walking up it. I also went to the Dunedin Railway Station (train station), the Botanic Gardens, and passed a few other spots along the way.
