Sunday morning I met up with Andre, Rita and Jacob to head to a farmer's market in Wellington. I was reminded after I'd woken up that there had been a time change. I knew it was coming up but forgot about it. I could have used that extra hour.
I walked to Andre's place then we all walked to the market. Lots of produce and food trucks. Andre had to split off to get some work done so the three of us continued to walk around for a bit until Rita and Jacob split off to visit the Te Papa museum. I headed home to enjoy four schedule-less hours until I needed to meet up with them to head to Andre's sister's house for dinner. I would savor the sleep and downtime. I'd also try to get caught up on some stuff online. When I arrived to the room I got a text from Andre saying they were heading to his nephew's basketball tournament game and asking if I could be ready in 30 minutes. We'd tried to go to this the night before, but were attempting to again. This would be the last opportunity. As there was no way to get there myself to meet up with them later, they gave me an extra 15 minutes and I showered up and got ready.
After the tournament we went to Andre's sister's house. She apparently is a newscaster on a Wellington news station and her husband directed a popular NZ movie. If I remember and got all my info right. There were about 40 people hanging out inside and outside the house. Great meeting new people and hanging out. It hit me as I was enjoying the evening that this was all due to my friend Julene putting me in touch with this church and pastor. Were it not for that I'd be enjoying my time, but without these great new friends and in this festive setting. Contacts and connections are gold!
