On Sunday the 26th I took a tour of the Melbourne Cricket Grounds. Very cool, especially given the fact that it had just been home to the Cricket World Cup about a month before. I'd watched it on TV while in New Zealand. I then drove downtown, parked, and walked around town for a bit, even taking the tram at one point.
From there I left the area and started my trek north. I'd be on this path for the next 3 weeks with Cairns, Australia as my endpoint and where I'd fly home from.
It was late at night when I pulled into Bairnsdale. I'd passed up several other towns along the way as they were either not far enough along or didn’t have good hotels. Bairnsdale was where my campground was supposed to be but the address led to a store that was obviously not the right place. It didn’t matter as I’d already kind of figured that I’d stay at a hotel due to the lateness of my arrival (after 8:00 PM) and because the ground was still kind of wet from rain. I stayed at the Comfort Inn there. Nice stay and I slept great.
